At 93 years young, Chief Engr. Ayo Ojo, the father of the state’s Technical Advisor on Youth Inclusion hon Ayo Ojo, has proven that age is no barrier to civic duty as he joined thousands of Ekiti voters to cast his ballot in Saturday’s governorship election.

The nonagenarian APC chieftain voted at Ward 9, Unit 1, Odundun High School, Ere Unit 001,Odo-Ayedun Ekiti ,Ikole Local Government Area, drawing admiration from fellow voters and officials alike for his unwavering commitment to the democratic process.

Speaking shortly after exercising his franchise, Chief Ojo commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their impartiality and professionalism, noting that the peaceful atmosphere across the state was a testament to their preparedness.

“So far the unit is peaceful, people turned out massively, security operatives are on ground and BVAS is working well. They really prepared for this election. You can see that nobody is being intimidated and I believe if we continue like this, this election may turn out being the best in Ekiti history,” the elder statesman stated.

Chief Ojo also praised the electorate for their patriotic zeal, describing the large turnout as evidence of Nigeria’s maturing democracy.

When pressed on the election’s outcome, the APC stalwart expressed confidence in a resounding victory for Governor Biodun Oyebanji:

He attributed the anticipated victory to the governor’s performance, noting that he “has served Ekiti with every fibre in his body and is widely adjudged to have performed excellently well.”

The elder statesman closed his remarks with a fatherly appeal to all political gladiators to adhere to INEC’s electoral guidelines to maintain the peace that has characterized the process from the start to collation time.

As he walked away from the polling unit, slowly but steadily,Chief Ojo left behind a powerful message that in a democracy,every vote counts and every age matters.
