EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT ENHANCES COMMITMENT TO CIVIC EDUCATION,ENGAGEMENT.

The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with key stakeholders to significantly enhance civic education and citizen engagement within the state. This commitment was highlighted during an advocacy visit to the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC) in Ado Ekiti, led by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Ekiti State team.

Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, Director-General of BCOC, welcomed the NOA delegation, headed by State Director Mrs. Kemi Akomolede. The meeting aimed to foster collaboration between the two agencies in promoting civic responsibilities and raising awareness among citizens.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the partnership, Famuyiwa, a former NOA director, noted that BCOC is currently engaged in various projects to enhance civic education. She emphasized that collaborating with the NOA would amplify these efforts, allowing for broader outreach and more impactful programs.

During the discussion, both leaders underscored the importance of civic orientation in cultivating informed citizens capable of actively participating in governance and community activities.

Mrs Akomolede stressed the need for joint initiatives to leverage the resources and expertise of both agencies to create a more engaged citizenry.

The meeting also addressed upcoming civic education campaigns, highlighting the necessity of involving diverse stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, and local governments, to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Both directors agreed to establish a framework for collaboration focused on joint workshops, voter education, and public awareness campaigns designed to empower citizens with the knowledge and skills essential for active participation in democracy.

The visit concluded with a commitment to regular meetings and updates, ensuring that both agencies stay aligned in their objectives to promote civic education and foster a sense of responsibility among Ekiti State citizens.

This advocacy visit marks a significant step toward strengthening civic engagement efforts in Ekiti, setting a precedent for future collaborations between governmental agencies dedicated to enhancing the democratic process.
