Sophia Ajayi Regional Choir Breaks New Ground, Graduates 135 Choristers in Historic Music Training Initiative

The Sophia Ajayi Regional Choir has etched its name in the annals of music excellence with the graduation of 135 choristers on Friday from its newly established regional music training school, marking a bold implementation of the Christ Apostolic Church Music Directorate’s decentralisation policy.

Following the landmark directive issued at the 2025 Music Ministers’ Conference held at Ikeji Arakeji, which mandated that technical training of Choristers be taken to the grassroots, the regional choir, under the visionary leadership of Elder Olugbenga Agbeti, swung into action by constituting a training and development committee headed by Pastor Akeredolu.

The maiden batch of graduates completed a rigorous six-week intensive training programme that commenced on April 18, 2026, and concluded on June 26, 2026, where they were equipped with professional music rudiments including sight-reading, sight-singing, and advanced performance techniques.

The certificate presentation ceremony, which held on Friday, June 26, 2026, was a carnival of emotions as the graduates expressed profound gratitude for the transformative experience. Many testified that what initially appeared as complex musical magic had been demystified, with their skills significantly upgraded and refined.

Speaking with JIROLTV, Mr. Segun Adebayo, the Regional Choir’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that the music school has been structured for continuity.

In a related development, all Choristers across the region have been urged to download the CAC Enterprise Application to register for the highly anticipated 2026 Edition of the CAC International Music Ministers’ Conference, scheduled to hold from July 22 to July 25, 2026.
