ARCHITECT’S SHOCKING CONFESSION: ‘I THOUGHT OYEBANJI’S VICTORY WAS RIGGED – UNTIL I MET HIM’
...EKITI IS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE HIM AS GOVERNOR

Lagos-based architect, Femi Adenekan, opens up on how the Ekiti Governor Mr.Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji shattered his negative perceptions, revealing a leader with ‘no excess security’ and rare humility.

In a stunning admission on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, Architect Femi Adenekan, an architect with Aron Nigeria Limited working on the ongoing Indoor Sports Complex project, has confessed that he once held a deeply negative view of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. He openly stated that during the Governor’s first-term election victory, there were widespread assumptions from some quarters that the process was rigged.

But everything changed when he was transferred to the state-Ekiti.
Adenekan revealed that his first encounter with Governor Oyebanji on-site completely dismantled his preconceived notions. He described the Governor as a leader starkly different from the typical Nigerian governor—one without the usual fortress of security details, little wonder his street credibility and genuine acceptance from the people. In fact, the architect recalled having to physically pull the Governor up when he was about to climb a structure on site, noting the complete absence of the intimidating protocols that define leadership in other states.

He contrasted the experience sharply with other state governments where aides aggressively block citizens from approaching their principals. For Adenekan, what he saw in Governor Oyebanji is a rare breed of leadership that he believes other states, including his home state of Ogun, desperately lack. He concluded with a heartfelt wish that his own state could be blessed with a leader of such humility and accessibility.

The ongoing construction site of the indoor sports complex project is one of the various initiatives by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to further make sports attractive and seamless for Ekiti youths to compete favourably with their counterpart around the state and world by extension.
