NYCN Breaks Jinx, Shares First-Ever Christmas/New Year Food Packages to State Youths

....Reveals Governor Oyebanji, Sen. Bamidele (MOB), Rep. Akinlayo, Sen. Adaramodu, DG Omotosho As Benefactors

The Ekiti State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has distributed Christmas and New Year food items to youths and its leadership organs, an unprecedented event in the annals of the council in the state.

The Chairman,Amb.Segun James Bankole in a heartfelt address during the distribution on Sunday at the council’s head office in Ado Ekiti stated that the kind of direct welfare package from the council to its members and youth organizations has never happened in the history of the council.

The largesse, comprising bags of rice and several cartoons of soya beans oil, was presented to the council by a distinguished list of Ekiti leaders.

The Chairman specifically acknowledged the state Governor,Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB), representing Ekiti Central; the House of Representatives member, Hon. Kolawole Davidson Akinlayo, representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II; Senator Yemi Adaramodu, representing Ekiti South; and the Director General of the Bureau of Community Communications, Mrs. Mary Osho-Omotosho.

A total of 45 bags of rice, alongside the oil and other items, were meticulously allocated to various arms of the youth constituency.

The breakdown provided by the council leadership during the program include Local Government Coordinators,Heads of Uniformed Organizations,

Faith-Based Organizations,Former Chairmen and Leaders,the media amongst others.

An additional bags of rice were also earmarked for specific elder council men and benefactors of the youth council.

The Chairman,Amb.Bankole extended profound gratitude to the donors, describing Governor Oyebanji as the “political benefactor for his pivotal roles.He also thanked the Commissioner for Youth Development Hon.Gold Olusola,all Heads of Youth Organizations, MHR Biodun Omoleye,media teams, and his executive committee for their relentless efforts in revitalizing the council.

“We felt that Mr. Governor and all of them should be reciprocated for what we have been getting,” the Chairman said, revealing that the council had earlier presented 10 live turkeys to the Governor’s office and other donors as a token of appreciation. “That’s never happened in the history of the council.”he declared.

He emphasized that the food items were not for personal enrichment but belonged to the entire council. “The money does not belong to us; it belongs to the council, belongs to all of us,” he noted, urging transparency and collective ownership.

Representatives of the various organs of the council who benefited from the largesse commended the donors for the hands of love stretched to the council as it further registers them as worthy stewards.

The event also served as a platform to pray for the state, the youth, and the nation’s activities in the coming year.

The Chairman reaffirmed the council’s repositioning as the true umbrella body for all youth organizations in the state, marking a “new year and a new beginning.”

This distribution marks a significant shift in the operations of the NYCN in the state, transitioning from a purely administrative body to one directly impacting the welfare of its constituents.
