A NEW DAWN FOR EKITI SKIES: Oyebanji’s N49.7bn Aviation Masterpiece Ushers In Economic Renaissance
... Engineer Bayo Ajayi Hails Unprecedented Infrastructure, Robust Road Network, World-Class Runway as State Welcomes First Commercial Flight

History was etched on Wednesday as Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji officially welcomed the inaugural commercial flight to the newly commissioned Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, marking a transformative leap in the state’s socio-economic frontier

The landmark event, which saw a United Nigeria Airlines aircraft touch down at approximately 11:09 am with a host of dignitaries including former Governors Kayode Fayemi, Ayo Fayose, Niyi Adebayo, and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, has been hailed as the culmination of visionary leadership and infrastructural ambition.

In a glowing commendation,a prominent board member of the Ekiti State environmental protection agency, Engineer and infrastructure expert, Engr. Bayo Ajayi, attributed the project’s monumental success to Governor Oyebanji’s unwavering commitment to engineering excellence. He particularly lauded the airport’s core physical infrastructure, describing it as a blueprint for modern development.

According to Engr. Ajayi, the airport’s runway stands as a testament to world-class engineering and future-ready design. He emphasized that its specification and robust construction not only meet international safety standards for cargo and passenger operations but are poised to accommodate larger aircraft, positioning Ekiti as a pivotal logistics hub in the region.
Focusing on the road network, Engr. Ajayi praised the integrated and seamless connectivity engineered around the airport complex. He noted that the expansive, well-paved access roads and internal routes are designed to ensure smooth traffic flow for passengers and cargo alike, effectively linking the airport to major state arteries. This, he stated, eliminates logistical bottlenecks and ensures efficient movement from airside to landside, a critical factor for agricultural export and commerce.
On the overall infrastructure, Engr. Ajayi commended the holistic approach taken, highlighting the sophisticated navigational aids, the modern terminal building, and the strategic facilities that support the airport’s agro-allied cargo mandate. He stated that the project reflects a deep understanding of infrastructure as an interconnected ecosystem, where the runway, roads, and support structures work in synchrony to drive economic value.
