Ojo, who described himself as a bona fide indigene of Ekiti State, spoke with journalists in an interview after the inauguration of the state PCC, which he said was presided over by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

“Election is meant to be civil,” Ojo said. “We are here today to inaugurate our PCC… The governor spoke to everybody, and we have been asked to go out there, talk to the people, talk to the voters and work very hard. That is what the PCC is known for.”

He cited the presence of a former PDP Governorship candidate Dr.Wole Oluyede now backing the campaign as evidence of growing support, saying it showed “everybody coming together, believing in what President Bola Tinubu has done.”

Ojo praised President Tinubu’s administration, saying rebuilding Nigeria takes time.

“It’s easier to destroy a building in one minute. It is difficult to build a building in one minute. A lot of things have gone bad. Tinubu is coming gradually to put Nigeria back to order,” he said.

He also thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji for leading the state campaign.

Asked whether the presidential election was already secured, Ojo said victory would not come automatically but through hard work and appealing to voters. He said the campaign was targeting 350,000 to over 400,000 votes and more, adding that combining the governor’s support and other support bases could push the figure close to over 400,000.

“You must appeal to the people for votes. You cannot but do that. So hopefully we’ll be looking at 350,000 to over 400,000,” he said.

Ojo also referred to Ekiti as a concluded deal and said the state had never denied Tinubu, describing its citizens as grateful people.
