EKITI GOVERNMENT ADVOCATES FOR POSITIVE YOUTH CHANGE AMIDST CULTURAL CHALLENGES

The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to guide the youth towards positive behavioral change and promote the Ekiti Omoluabi ethos.

Hon. Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, Director-General of the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship in Ekiti State, shared this message during the Leadership and Impact Summit 2025, organized by the Nigerian Youth Congress, Ekiti State Chapter. The summit, held in Ado Ekiti, was themed “Towards a Redemptive and Secured Society: Re-enacting a Concerned Leadership Mindset.”

Mrs. Famuyiwa highlighted the importance of collective efforts to raise awareness among the residents of the State about their cultural values, particularly emphasizing respect for elders and moving away from dependency and the “get rich quick” mentality prevalent among the youth.

She noted that modernization has led to a decline in cultural practices and stressed the necessity of reinforcing the values that Ekitis are known for, which includes respect for elders, a strong work ethic, and community collaboration.

During the event, Mrs. Famuyiwa was honored with an award for outstanding exceptional leadership by the Nigerian Youth Congress, Ekiti State.

In response, Aare Temitope Adedara voiced his support for this collaborative initiative and underscored the importance of Ekiti State reclaiming its cultural identity.
