It was meant to be a night of rib-cracking laughter at Cruscio’s “How Was Your Valentine” show version 4 in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, but ace comedian Seyi Law turned the volume up with a serious political declaration that brought the house down.

Taking the stage, the controversial comedian abandoned his usual punchlines to deliver a passionate sermon on governance. He dismantled the popular notion that entertainers should stay far away from politics, arguing that leadership affects the daily existence of every Nigerian. “No matter what we do, if the government doesn’t do well, the society doesn’t enjoy it,” he declared, drawing loud applause from the stunned audience.

Seyi Law didn’t just speak in generalities; he brought receipts. He took the crowd on a journey through the new Ekiti, recounting his recent trips to Oye Ekiti and Federal University of Oye Ekiti (Fuoye). He expressed sheer amazement at how a commute that once consumed nearly two hours has now been slashed to just 45 minutes. “That is what good road infrastructure can do!” he exclaimed, urging the youth to pay attention to the physical development springing up around them.

What made the endorsement even more striking was the comedian’s insistence that he wasn’t on anyone’s payroll.

He revealed that he had publicly praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji on social media long before ever meeting him face to face. According to Seyi Law, the current administration in Ekiti is the first in a long time that feels authentic, insisting that visible projects like flyovers and road networks prove this government is different.

He concluded with a challenge to the crowd, asking why anyone would seek to disrupt a system that is clearly working. With a voice full of conviction, he threw his weight behind the governor, cementing his message that “BAO” is delivering the real deal for Ekiti people.
