Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Disburses ₦50 Million to 24 Communities To Boost Rural Development

Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has disbursed ₦50 million to 24 communities as part of a sustained effort to bolster rural development across Ekiti State.

This latest funding, distributed at the Ministry of Rural and Community Development’s conference hall, marked the second phase of a broader initiative to empower local communities.

Under the guidance of Commissioner Hon. Oluwafemi Abimbola Awe ( FEMTEX), the funds aim to support self-help projects that ensure comprehensive growth in rural areas.

The disbursement follows an earlier allocation of ₦50 million to 20 communities, bringing the total investment to date to ₦100 million out of an approved ₦157 million by the governor.

Hon. Awe highlighted that the third batch, set to receive their funds on Thursday, will see additional communities benefiting from the project. This phased approach ensures that vital infrastructure and community-driven initiatives are promptly and effectively executed, enhancing the socio-economic landscape of rural Ekiti.

Representatives from beneficiary communities, including Efon, Osun, and Otun, praised Governor Oyebanji as a “talk and do” leader, lauding his commitment to improving the welfare of the Ekiti people.

They explained that the completion of the projects would significantly boost the economic prospects of their areas, directly benefiting local artisans and ensure broader economic development.

The beneficiaries assured their unwavering support for the governor’s administration and expressed optimism for more successful initiatives in the future. They commended the transformative impact the funds would have, not only on their immediate communities but also on the state’s overall economic health.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ojo Babatope, urged the beneficiaries to use the disbursed funds wisely, noting that a monitoring exercise would soon be conducted to assess the progress of the various projects. The oversight according to him is intended to ensure that the funds are utilized effectively and that the intended developmental goals are achieved.
