Over 400 Attendees Engage in CAC Sophia Ajayi Regional Choir’s Inaugural Seminar on Sight-Singing

The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Sophia Ajayi Regional Choir, led by Elder Oluwagbenga Agbeti as Regional Choir Master,convened its inaugural seminar during the week at the CAC Regional Headquarters in Ogba Alafia, Ado Ekiti.

With a turnout of over 400 participants from various CAC Churches across Ekiti State, the event was inaugurated by Pastor S.I Jayeoba, representing the President of CAC, Nigeria and Overseas.

The seminar commenced with a lecture on “Leadership and Spirituality in the Music Ministry,” delivered by Pastor Julius Adedayo (Ph.D). Attendees were enlightened on the crucial link between leadership and spirituality in the realm of music ministry. The session also delved into distinguishing between secular and church music, emphasizing that Christian music should exalt God rather than serve personal interests or entertainment purposes.

The technical aspect of the seminar, facilitated by Pastor E. O Olusegun (Ph.D), a lecturer in the Liberal Arts & Music Department at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Ikere Ekiti, centered on sight-singing skills. Participants received intensive training on music notation fundamentals, engaging in practical exercises to demonstrate their understanding.

Addressing the gathering, Pastor Idowu Akeredolu, Chairman of the Planning Committee and Assistant Regional Choirmaster (Training), highlighted the seminar’s significance as an ongoing initiative to enhance the musical knowledge of choirs within the region. Similarly, Mr. Segun Adebayo, Regional Publicity Secretary 1, expressed participants’ satisfaction and emphasized the seminar’s value, noting its role in boosting attendance at the upcoming 2024 Music Ministers Conference in Ikeji Arakaji.
