In a decisive move towards enhancing governance effectiveness, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has introduced a wave of new appointments. This strategic phase of governance was announced by the governor through a press release, signaling the injection of fresh individuals to contribute to the state’s administration.

The press release, issued by the governor, disclosed the appointment of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Technical Advisors (TAs), and Special Assistants (SAs) to specific government offices. Scheduled to take effect from January 1, 2024, these appointments are the initial phase of a two-batch rollout, as part of Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to diverse political appointments post-local government elections. Congratulating the new appointees, the governor urged them to view their roles as opportunities to serve the people and contribute to the administration’s developmental agenda.

In tandem with these appointments, Governor Oyebanji also revealed the establishment of a seven-member committee tasked with coordinating appointments to boards and commissions. Empowered to consult stakeholders across the 16 local government areas, screen candidates, and recommend suitable individuals for board positions, the committee operates with a mandate to adhere to relevant laws governing the establishment of various parastatals.


The governor emphasized the significance of a law-compliant selection process, setting a six-week timeline for the committee to conclude the exercise and submit recommendations.

The press release marks a significant stride in Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to an efficient governance and strategic leadership in Ekiti State.
