In a bold move towards propelling Ekiti State into an era of industrial and infrastructural prosperity, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has inaugurated the first phase of a groundbreaking 17.85-kilometer ring road.
The project, unveiled in Iworoko Ekiti, is set to redefine the state’s landscape, aligning with Oyebanji’s commitment to governance, human capital development, and overall economic growth.
Emphasizing the transformative agenda of his administration, Governor Oyebanji highlighted the road’s significance in addressing persistent gridlock issues faced by Ekiti residents. The project, initially initiated during Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s tenure and delayed by the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to enhance smooth vehicular access to key locations such as the airport and Afe Babalola University.
The governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to infrastructure development, citing ongoing road projects like Ikere-Igbara Odo road, Isinbode-Ara Ikole road, and Ikere-Ilawe road. The ring road, weaving through Iworoko-Are-Afao, Araromi Obo-Igigo-Ago Aduloju, is expected to serve as a vital link, fostering economic development, trade, commerce, and tourism within the state.
Governor Oyebanji sought the cooperation of local communities, urging them to work collectively to ensure the project’s success. Emphasizing inclusivity, he announced plans to engage local youths in the roadwork, creating job opportunities and contributing to community development.
Commissioner for Works, Shola Adebayo, highlighted the aesthetic aspect of the project, assuring that the carefully designed ring road would add beauty to the state’s ambience.
The Governor’s call for unity and support was echoed by CRANEBURG Construction, the company handling the project. Elie Adem, the General Manager, Corporate Services, expressed appreciation for the state government’s cooperation and confidence in the company. He promised to deliver a high-quality project that would stand the test of time, outlining the phased construction plan, with the single carriageway in phase one and the dualized second lane in phase two.
