Speaking during an interactive session with journalists at the commemoration ceremony of the 2023 Edition of the Initiative, the Ekiti-born philanthropist and lawyer emphasized the imperative of adding value to lives, especially amid the economic downturn affecting many. Olanipekun called for increased collaborations from well-meaning Nigerians to address the prevalent hunger and poverty in society.

He highlighted the urgency of addressing transferred aggression and the need to uplift those affected by poverty and job loss.

The philanthropist outlined the provisions for this year’s empowerment, including annual scholarships through WOSS and empowerment grants through WOF. The grants encompass Youth Entrepreneurship Grants, Aged and Widows Grants, and Palliatives, benefiting a total of 600 individuals.

Olanipekun explained that the primary aim of the empowerment initiative is to help youths realize their potential through self-awareness, provide hope to the aged, and propagate a good life through grants. The impact of these initiatives over the years has been evident, contributing to the growth and productivity of beneficiaries.

Highlighting the inclusive nature of the empowerment initiative, Olanipekun emphasized the meticulous screening process, ensuring fairness and transparency. The beneficiaries, spread across 11 wards, religious institutions, and trade associations in Ikere, undergo scrutiny without bias or influence, ensuring that deserving individuals benefit from the program.

Commending the initiative, Senate Majority Leader Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele expressed his satisfaction with being part of the process, acknowledging Chief Wole Olanipekun’s demonstration of the philosophy that every individual owes something to their family, community, or society.
