Ekiti State Governor Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has proclaimed 2026 as a definitive “Year of Unlimited Opportunities,” building on what he hailed as a landmark year of socio-political stability and economic prosperity for the state.

Speaking from the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji presented a compelling scorecard of achievements from his administration’s “Year of Accelerated Development” in 2025 and outlined an ambitious blueprint for the future.

The Governor announced the successful completion and commissioning of numerous critical road projects across the state,including the Ikole-Ara-Isinbode, Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki, and the pivotal first phase of the Ado-Ekiti Ring Road. He reserved special commendation for the entire state on the historic commencement of commercial flights at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport just twenty days ago, a project he stated is already “opening the state to more economic growth, investment, and tourism.”

Governor Oyebanji declared that the current year will see an acceleration of work on Ado-Ekiti’s second overhead bridge and the commencement of the Ring Road’s second phase. He also promised “massive township road construction and rehabilitation” across all local government areas. Key projects like the Ekiti International Cultural Centre, the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex, and the modernized Oluyemi Kayode Stadium are all slated for completion within the year.

SOME OF THE ROADS ALSO COMMISSIONED BY THE GOVERNOR IN 2025

The Governor revealed a transformative success in the state’s agriculture renewal policy. The “Bring-Back-the-Youths-in-Agriculture” project has not only ensured massive food availability but has also drastically reduced headline food inflation—reversing Ekiti’s former notoriety for the highest food prices in the South-West.

“Just about two weeks ago, I distributed N1.4 billion as profit for the year to the participating youths,” Governor Oyebanji announced, labeling it a “significant micro-economic policy success.” He urged more youths to seize the “unlimited opportunities” in the expanded program.

The broadcast detailed comprehensive rehabilitation of over 100 basic health clinics and several general hospitals,crediting effective surveillance for preventing epidemic outbreaks. In education, the employment of 2,000 new teachers and the ongoing total rehabilitation of schools emphasize the sector’s priority status. Significant strides in power infrastructure, including new transmission stations in partnership with SPIN, were also reported.

With the June governorship election approaching,Governor Oyebanji issued a firm call for peaceful politicking. “I urge all party leaders and candidates to… ensure the political arena is free of intimidation,” he stated, while reassuring citizens that security remains the government’s “number one priority.”

The Governor extended profound gratitude to Ekiti citizens, political stakeholders, traditional and religious leaders, state workers, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose approval led to the immediate reconstruction of the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado road.
