A new wave of youthful millionaires is sweeping Ekiti State as Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s flagship “Bring Back the Youth in Agriculture” programme delivers a staggering One Billion Naira in profits to 4,657 young farmers.
At a vibrant ceremony at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, cheques ranging from N500,000 to N1,500,000 were presented as rewards for the 2025 harvest season, marking a seismic 700% profit increase from the previous year.

NYCN Chairman, Amb. Segun Bankole, a proud beneficiary of the scheme after bagging”Bast Youth In Agriculture” award and cash gift, led commendations, describing it as “the most impactful youth emancipation policy in Nigeria today.”

“Governor Oyebanji has not just talked; he has delivered tangible wealth into our hands,” Bankole stated. “This is the true meaning of shared prosperity. On behalf of the entire youth constituency, I assure the Governor of our unflinching dedication and total support for all his youth-friendly policies, projects, and initiatives, including this transformative scheme. Our energy and votes are solidly behind his successful administration and its continuity in 2026.”

Bankole also lauded the impartial and transparent management of the programme by the YSJ Chairperson, Mrs. Yemisi Joluwe, crediting her unbiased handling for building unprecedented trust among participants.
Governor Oyebanji, represented by Chief of Staff Mr. Niyi Adebayo, declared the event a monumental triumph for his administration’s agenda. He revealed the programme’s explosive growth—from 911 participants in 2024 to nearly 5,000 now—directly linking it to Ekiti’s status as a state with one of the lowest food inflation rates in Nigeria.

“Today, we celebrate the triumph of our youth. This is proof that agriculture is no longer a vocation of last resort but a lucrative, proud business,” the Governor said. He urged beneficiaries to reinvest their profits, expand operations, and become employers of labour.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, detailed massive state support including 5,000 hectares of cleared land, 12 farm hubs, security, and dormitories as catalysts for the success.
The event stands as a powerful testament to a promise kept and a clear signal that in Ekiti, the future of the youth is green, profitable, and secure.
