... Ekiti’s Own Musical Scholar Makes History as First Indigenous Artist to Win Continental Honour

Fast-rising hip-hop artiste and FUOYE scholar, Mayowa-Kehinde Olumide (aka YGKAY), has etched his name in history as the first indigenous Ekiti talent to win the coveted YOMAFA Global Award.

The prestigious award was formally presented to the superstar in a ceremony held in Ikeja, Lagos, this past August.


To mark the achievement, YGKAY has dedicated the continental honour to the youth-centric policies of the state Governor,Mr.Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
He expressed this on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the office the technical Advisor Youth Inclusion,Hon.Ayo Ojo.
The Advisor Ojo commended the hip-hop Star for rising to achieve such a feat with assurance that the Ekiti State Governor remains committed to the all round well-being of youths in the state.

He however urged the rising star to desist from the “blow-quick” syndrome rather tow the path of dignity.

In an exclusive statement with JIROLTV,the singer-songwriter highlighted the Governor’s creation of the Office of the Youth Inclusion, led by Hon. Ayo Ojo, as a transformative channel for young aspirations. “Governor Oyebanji’s administration has created a fertile ground for us to thrive at home. This award is as much for Ekiti as it is for me,” YGKAY stated.
YGKAY masterfully balances a Biochemistry degree at FUOYE with a booming music career.The Ekiti-based hitmaker, known for tracks like “REMEMBER,” “POLONGO,” and “FEEL IT,” exemplifies the new wave of multi-talented youth flourishing under the state’s supportive environment.
This landmark achievement underscores the potent talent within Ekiti and affirms the impact of Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive governance, proving that with the right backing, local stars can shine on continental stages.
