Gov. Oyebanji’s Devotion, Welfare Translates into Landmark Employment, Empowerment for Ekiti PWDs
Ekiti State Governor,Mr.Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji In a clear demonstration of his devoted commitment to inclusivity has again championed the welfare of the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) community in Ekiti State, securing employment and empowerment initiatives.
This commitment is a cornerstone of Governor Oyebanji’s social inclusion agenda executed through the office of the Special Adviser Special Education and Social Inclusion demonstrate the Governor’s hands-on approach to equitable governance.
Poised to integrate PWDs into the mainstream workforce, Governor Oyebanji’s administration recently successfully secured the employment of ten (10) qualified Persons with Disabilities into the Ekiti State Local Government Services Commission. In a personal gesture that emphasizes the administration’s dedication, the Governor, through his office, facilitated the covering of all employment application fees. This direct intervention ensured that the financial burden of the forms, amounting to One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000), did not hinder these qualified individuals from assuming their new roles within the state’s civil service.
Further cementing Governor Oyebanji’s holistic vision for the community, his administration has also presided over a graduation and certification ceremony for a new cohort of PWD trainees. These individuals, having completed intensive skill acquisition programs funded and promoted by the state government, were presented with certificates and vital empowerment tools. This initiative, a direct result of the Governor’s policy direction, equips them with the practical means to achieve sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
In a show of gratitude a representative from the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD), Ekiti State Chapter, on the group’s dedicated platform expressed profound gratitude for the initiatives. “On behalf of Ekiti JONAPWD, we deeply appreciate His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for his devoted and inclusive leadership. These actions—from direct employment to sustainable empowerment—show he truly cares for our welfare. We pray Almighty God continues to bless and guide him as he continues to make Ekiti a better place for everyone.”
These concurrent events—the direct civil service recruitment and the trainee certification—stand as a powerful testament to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s devoted strategy to holistically uplift the PWD community in Ekiti State through both immediate employment and long-term self-sufficiency.
