Gov.Oyebanji’s N100 Million Empowerment Masterstroke: 120 Persons With Disabilities Graduate Into Prosperity

Demonstrating his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has successfully trained and empowered 120 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in a landmark N100 million initiative designed to strengthen economic independence and social inclusion.

The graduation and empowerment ceremony for the 2025 cohort, themed “Celebrating Courage, Craft and Capability,” was held at the Ekiti State Office of Disabilities Affairs Skills Acquisition Centre for PWDs, marking a significant milestone in the state’s “Shared Prosperity” agenda.

Representing Governor Oyebanji, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo, reiterated the Governor’s unwavering commitment to leaving no one behind.

He stated that the administration has made strategic interventions for PWDs, including employment into the civil service, free healthcare, and free education, affirming that “every individual, regardless of circumstance, must have opportunities to thrive.”


The Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola, hailed the program as a testament to the Governor’s implementation of the Disability Act.

She detailed that the 120 beneficiaries, drawn from all 16 LGAs and 38 LCDAs, underwent nine months of vocational training and a three-month industrial attachment in fields like ICT, Tailoring, and Catering, with comprehensive support including accommodation and transport allowances.

However,the State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Folakemi Olomojobi in her remarks described the program as “unprecedented,” praising its structure and the Governor’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for impactful human capital development that directly touches the lives of the people.


The Executive Secretary of the Office of Disability Affairs, Mr.Bayo Odewale expressed delight at the program’s success, confirming that each graduate received a Trade Test Certificate from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, alongside start-up kits and cash support to ensure a seamless launch into entrepreneurship.
A cross section of the beneficiaries also took turns to express their gratitude.
In her words Mrs.Ogundipe Wande declared”This is not noise, this is real governance. Governor Oyebanji has given us more than kits; he has given us dignity and a future.”
“We have been trained, housed, and now empowered. This is the first time I feel truly seen and supported by any government. Our Governor has a big heart.” – Mr.Awobusuyi Oluwatobiloba explained,while Mrs.Aladejare Ruth Adewunmi noted that
“The skills we have acquired are priceless. With these start-up kits, I am now a business owner. Thank you, Governor Oyebanji, for making our prosperity your priority.”.

A new chapter of economic freedom and self-reliance has officially begun for these 120 exceptional graduates.
