Federal Road Approval Set to Unleash New Era of Prosperity in Ekiti

The recent federal approval for the construction of the Itawure–Aramoko-Ado and Aramoko-Ijero-Ido-Ifaki roads is being hailed as a watershed moment for Ekiti State’s development trajectory. The projects, included in the 2026 budget following advocacy by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, are expected to catalyze significant economic growth.

According to a prominent engineer and board member Ekiti State environmental protection agency Engr. Bayo Ajayi, the strategic importance of the roads cannot be overstated.

He stated that the economic benefits would be profound, leading to reduced transportation costs, faster movement of agricultural goods, and a general reduction in the price of commodities, thereby stimulating commerce across the state.

On infrastructure balance, Engr. Ajayi reported that the federal projects perfectly complement the state government’s own extensive network of intra-city roads. He explained that it creates a balanced and integrated transportation grid, ensuring that remote agrarian communities are linked to the economic heartbeat of the state, which prevents isolation and promotes even development.
