Ekiti SSG, Prof. Adubiaro, Redefines Celebration, Champions Compassion on 60th Birthday

The atmosphere at the Therapy Centre for Children with Disabilities in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday was charged with compassion the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, chose to commemorate her landmark 60th birthday not with fanfare, but with profound humanity.

JIROLTV was on the ground to witness the moment as the SSG,Prof.Adubiaro accompanied by her family and aides, turned a personal milestone into a communal blessing, flooding the facility with joy and essential supplies.

Prof. Adubiaro shared with JIROLTV the deeply personal conviction behind her decision, stating she deliberately eschewed a lavish party to instead channel resources towards adding tangible value to the lives of the children. “I see today as profoundly special,” she revealed, “and it became clear that the most meaningful celebration was here, with these remarkable children, offering gifts that would truly impact their daily lives and development.” This year’s visit to the Therapy Centre in Oke-Oriomi, she explained, was a deliberate expansion of her longstanding tradition of supporting special schools, a gesture magnified for her diamond jubilee.

The SSG was quick to attribute the inspiration for her action to the compassionate leadership template set by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. She highlighted the Governor’s consistent practice of marking his own birthdays with People Living With Disabilities, a culture she is now passionately propagating.
She specifically praised the Governor’s groundbreaking inclusive policies, such as the establishment of the Department of Special Education and Social Inclusion, a first in the state’s history, which creates a sustainable framework for support.
Prof. Adubiaro issued a compelling call to action, urging other celebrants to find greater fulfillment in altruism. She advocated for a shift from extravagant social gatherings to visits to special schools and orphanages, emphasizing that such acts of kindness forge a legacy of love and have a lasting impact that no party can match.
Her joy was obvious as she noted the visible progress of the children, a testament, she said, to the enabling environment fostered by the state government.
The Director of the Therapy Centre, Mrs. Amogbonjaiye Bola Felicia, receiving the SSG and her entourage, was effusive in her gratitude. She described the visit and generous donations of food, stationery, and toiletries as a true demonstration of compassion, offering heartfelt prayers for the SSG and her family.
The sentiment was echoed by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Department, Mrs. Kayode Ojo, who commended Prof. Adubiaro for her thoughtful leadership and for exemplifying the values of the present administration.
