Tinubu's Federal Government Hails Governor's Strategic Investments, Citing New Airport as a Game-Changer for the State's Economy

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has rated his administration high in its aggressive drive to transform the state’s road infrastructure, declaring that a “road revolution” is actively changing the landscape and bringing new socio-economic life to communities.

The Governor made the declaration on Thursday while inaugurating the 30th National Council on Works (NCW), a high-level summit gathering Works Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries from all 36 states.
Governor Oyebanji, addressing the delegates, positioned infrastructure investment as the non-negotiable bedrock of his administration’s agenda for economic growth and regional integration. He detailed a deliberate policy of opening up rural communities through extensive construction and rehabilitation of roads, thereby easing transportation and improving critical access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities for the populace.

Highlighting a model of collaborative federalism, Governor Oyebanji commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for federal interventions on key roads within the state. In a significant revelation, the Governor announced that his administration has reciprocated this commitment by undertaking the repairs of the vital Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki dual carriageway, a federal road, demonstrating a proactive partnership aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the people.

Echoing the sentiment of progress, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, represented by the Minister of State, Hon. Bello Muhammad, lauded the synergistic efforts of President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji. The Minister specifically singled out the successful completion of the landmark Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport as a testament to the state’s visionary leadership, a project poised to reposition Ekiti for unprecedented economic growth and investment influx.
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, in his welcome address, framed the hosting of this pivotal national meeting as a recognition of Ekiti’s emerging status as a hub of responsible governance and infrastructural innovation. It is expected that the council’s deliberations will forge actionable strategies to accelerate Nigeria’s infrastructural renewal, leveraging modern technology and strengthened federal-state collaborations to build lasting legacies.
