A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti has commended the transparent and fair process that led to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s unchallenged emergence as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2026 election.
Engr. Bayo Ajayi, a respected Board Member of the Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency on praised the exercise as a testament to the APC’s unique ability to handle internal affairs with unparalleled fairness and political maturity.
Engr. Bayo Ajayi, speaking exclusively to JIROLTV News in Emure Ekiti on Monday evening at a self sponsored victory party in honor of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s emergence as the Ekiti All Progressives Congress APC flag bearer for the 2026 guber,stated that the consensus candidacy ratified at the special nomination congress presents the APC as a model of stability and unity. He emphasized that the voluntary withdrawal of the only other aspirant and the subsequent unanimous endorsement by all 885 delegates from across the state’s 16 local governments was not an accident, but a deliberate outcome of a party committed to equitable and just processes.
He further highlighted that the successful, crisis-free exercise stands as a powerful mandate for Governor Oyebanji to consolidate on the gains of his first term. He described the governor’s sole candidacy as a reflection of the widespread approval of his administration’s projects and policies, which have positively impacted the lives of Ekiti residents.
Engr. Ajayi called for unified support from all party members and citizens to ensure the Governor’s continuity agenda is realized for the sustained development of the state.
The historic congress, which was supervised by a committee led by Kogi State Governor,Alhaji Usman Ododo, and witnessed the ratification motion moved by Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has effectively positioned Governor Oyebanji as the APC flag bearer.
In his acceptance speech, the Governor dedicated the victory to God and pledged to redouble his efforts in serving the people, vowing to build upon the foundations laid in his first term.
