
The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has publicly commended his Ekiti State counterpart, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his commitment to using local contractors in executing state projects, labelling it a key to sustainable development.

Governor Ododo gave this commendation on Tuesday as the Special Guest of Honour at the historic commissioning of the 21-kilometer Ilawe-Ikere road and a newly renovated General Hospital in Ilawe-Ekiti.


In a passionate segment of his speech, Governor Ododo hailed the decision to engage indigenous contractors as a mark of confidence in Nigerian expertise.


“For using local contractors and indigene of this country, I thank you more sincerely,” he stated. He followed with a pointed question that resonated with the audience: “When you have the best, why are you running out of this country to go and get contractors? I thank you more sincerely.”
Governor Ododo did not mince words in affirming Governor Oyebanji’s performance, declaring that his transformative projects have silenced opposition.
“Even if your opponent will not admit to it in public, they know that BAO has bowed, bowed their head with his great performance,” Governor Ododo declared to cheers, cementing his endorsement of the administration’s developmental strides.
He described the newly commissioned road, complete with standard drainage and asphalt, as a “bridge to opportunity, growth, and prosperity,” and praised the hospital project as a foundation for a productive society.
Urging the people of Ekiti to continue their support, Governor Ododo concluded, “I am convinced that he loves Ekiti, and he will continue to serve Ekiti with honour and integrity.”
