The Governor, speaking on Tuesday, attributed this fiscal achievement directly to the “audacious and courageous reforms” of President Bola Tinubu, which he stated have freed up critical resources for sub-national governments.

THE COMMISSIONING

“After God, all the glory should go to the President,” Governor Oyebanji stated emphatically. “The President provided the resources for us to be able to deliver on our promises and our social contract with Ekiti people. I can stand here confidently and say that all the capital projects going on in Ekiti State today, we have not borrowed a dime to fund them.”

THE PROJECTS

The event was a double-barreled celebration, as the Governor immediately proceeded from the road commissioning to inaugurate a new, state-of-the-art hospital in the same vicinity. He framed these projects as a strategic fulfillment of his administration’s social contract with the people and a testament to the power of continuity in governance.

Governor Oyebanji outlined the administration’s focused strategy for infrastructure, emphasizing that projects are carefully chosen to drive tourism, boost agriculture, and provide essential access to schools and healthcare facilities.

“This speaks to the grace of continuity. When there’s continuity of vision, when there’s alignment of vision, the people definitely will have a lot to gain,” he remarked.

The Ilawe-Ikere road is just the beginning of a major project rollout. The Governor announced that as part of the state’s 29th-anniversary celebrations, no fewer than ten significant projects spanning three senatorial districts will be commissioned. This includes a 17.8-kilometer Rind road and a 21-kilometer road leading into Ekiti.

The Governor also took a moment to express his gratitude to the State Commissioner for Works, the Ministry’s team, and the contractor, Peculiar Ultimate, whom he praised as “one of our most reliable contractors.”

“You did not stress us at all. You said you would deliver, and you delivered,” the Governor said, highlighting the project’s completion on time and within budget.

Concluding his speech on a celebratory note, Governor Oyebanji congratulated the people of Ekiti State on the twin projects and the milestone 29th anniversary, signaling more developmental news to come in the following days.
