Ekiti State’s tourism sector on Thursday gained a new engine with the grand opening of the Town Tavern Lounge in Ado-Ekiti. Declaring it a new dawn for the state’s economy, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, represented by the Director General of the Bureau of Tourism Development, Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre, Esq., stated the landmark facility is poised to transform the capital’s social scene.

Governor Oyebanji commended the promoters for their foresight and investment, which aligns directly with his administration’s vision to establish Ekiti as a prime destination.

He emphasized that the multi-faceted lounge is a beacon of opportunity, poised to generate significant direct and indirect employment for the youth, stimulate enterprise for local suppliers, and vigorously enliven the night-time economy with a safe, modern leisure environment.

In an immediate symbolic gesture of partnership, the Bureau of Tourism Development presented the Certificate of Operation and Licence to the management following the ribbon-cutting, formally registering it as a hospitality complex in the state.

Corroborating the DG, Technical Advisor on Youth Inclusion, Hon Ayo Ojo, stated that the launch was made possible by the enabling business environment created by Governor Oyebanji, which has ranked Ekiti among the best states for ease of doing business. He noted that the lounge will boost not only tourism but also wealth creation, sports promotion, creativity, and skills acquisition, expressing optimism for its expansion within three to five years.

The Director General, Bureau of Local Content, Hon. Lekan Ijidale, reiterated that Ekiti State gladly welcomes the investment and urged strict compliance with the state’s ease of doing business protocols.

Adding a crucial layer of assurance, the State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, commended the Governor’s investment in security and guaranteed the safety of all visitors to the lounge.

The Managing Director, Mrs.Omolola Olorunbukunmi, expressed profound gratitude and dedicated the achievement to the dream and relentless efforts of her husband, Mr. Taiwo. She promised an unwavering commitment to exceptional service guided by the “STAR” initiative—Smile, Take Responsibility, Anticipate customer needs, and Respond Quickly—positioning the lounge as a haven for creating lasting memories.

The facility itself was described by Hospitality Consultant, Hon. Akin Stephen Abimbola, as a premier destination offering an array of world-class amenities, including a fast-food restaurant, a barbecue kitchen, a suspended swimming pool, an executive lounge bar, a snooker and indoor games cafe, a football pitch, and ample parking, all secured by trained personnel.

The event concluded with a collective optimism for the lounge’s pivotal role in shaping a more vibrant social and economic landscape for Ekiti State.
