
The Director-General of the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC) in Ekiti State, Mrs Famuyiwa, recently commended Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji as a true embodiment of democratic values and the Omoluabi ethos. Her remarks were made during an appearance on the “LAGBO OSELU” program aired by the Nigerian Television Authority in Ado Ekiti.

In her address, Mrs Famuyiwa highlighted Governor Oyebanji’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace and stability within the State. She emphasized the important role that politicians play in maintaining this peace, urging them to guide the youth away from violent activities such as thuggery. “Politicians have a responsibility to lead the younger generation towards constructive engagement rather than destructive behavior,” she stated, underlining the need for ethical leadership in the political arena.

She praised Governor Oyebanji as a “lover of peace,” noting that his administration has made significant strides in creating a harmonious environment for all citizens. “His approach to governance reflects a genuine commitment to the welfare of the Ekiti people,” she remarked, reinforcing the idea that peace is a collective responsibility.
The discussion also addressed the inclusion of people living with disabilities in the political sphere.Olawumi asserted that everyone, regardless of their disabilities, should have the opportunity to participate in politics. “It is essential that we create an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and represented,” she stated, advocating for policies that support the political engagement of marginalized groups.

The Director-General touched on the critical issue of freedom of information, particularly concerning youth and social media users. She cautioned against the misuse of this freedom, urging young people to engage responsibly and adhere to the law. “We must use our voices wisely and ensure our actions contribute positively to society,” she emphasized.
Mrs Famuyiwa also addressed the youth and social media users, urging them to remain vigilant against fake news and misinformation. “Bad news travels faster than good news,” she noted, calling for a collective effort to combat the spread of false information that could incite unrest.
When discussing electoral disputes, she advised candidates dissatisfied with election outcomes to pursue legal avenues, such as election tribunals. “Resorting to violence is not the answer; we must uphold the rule of law,” she asserted, advocating for peaceful resolutions to electoral grievances.
The BCOC Boss encouraged voters to conduct thorough investigations into candidates before making their decisions. “It is essential to know the character and integrity of those we choose to lead us,” she emphasized, highlighting the importance of informed voting.
