Speaking on Spotlight, a program aired on BSES Ekiti FM, Mrs. Famuyiwa underscored the importance of cultural heritage and civic responsibility in nation-building. She urged young people to embrace the Omoluabi ethos and Ekiti values that emphasize dignity of labour, hard work, discipline, respect for elders, honesty, and ethical conduct. According to her, these values are the bedrock of a strong and cohesive society.

Expressing concern over the erosion of cultural values, the BCOC boss revealed that the Bureau has reached out to 22 public secondary schools within Ado metropolis to sensitize students on civic responsibilities. She added that plans are underway to extend the campaign to other local government areas.

Mrs Famuyiwa commended Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for demonstrating the Omoluabi values in governance, describing his respect for elders and commitment to ethical leadership as exemplary for young people.

On the challenges confronting today’s youth, she warned against the rising wave of internet fraud, money rituals, and the growing “get-rich-quick” mentality. She also lamented the loss of decency in dressing, often influenced by Nollywood trends, and advised youths to adopt appearances and behaviors that align with cultural values.

The Director-General further emphasized the importance of political participation, urging citizens to register for elections both online and physically, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and shun underage registration. She cautioned young people against being used as political thugs, advocating instead for peaceful and responsible engagement in politics.

Highlighting the role of national pride, Mrs Famuyiwa also encouraged proper handling of the naira, respectful display of the national flag, and standing in attention during the singing of the National and State anthems.

Her appearance on Spotlight served as a reminder of the crucial role young people play in shaping the future of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large. She urged them to uphold cultural values, engage meaningfully in civic life, and resist negative influences in order to build a better nation.
