Emotions ran high as the Ekiti Council of Elders (ECE) posthumously inducted the late Hon. (Mrs) Titilayo Ojo, JP into its revered Hall of Fame, immortalizing her life of humility, intellect, and godly devotion. In a ceremony filled with tributes, the Council dedicated a luxury chalet in her name at the Ekiti Elders Resort, fulfilling the timeless adage: “Even in death, the righteous shall be celebrated.” The elegant self-contained chalet, featuring a plush bedroom, modern bathroom, and a stylish wardrobe, was officially consecrated by Venerable Olusola Oluwole, who represented the Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Rt. Rev. Andrew Olusola, PhD.

The family of the late honoree expressed deep gratitude during the event. Speaking on their behalf,her second daughter Dr. Temitope Longe an IT expert in the United States of America painted a touching portrait of her mother as a selfless matriarch whose love knew no bounds. She described her as a “family-centric icon” who extended her nurturing spirit beyond her biological children to all who crossed her path.”She was a giver in every sense—supporting, mentoring, and uplifting others until her last breath. Her life was a testament to unconditional love,”she said, her voice laden with emotion. The family pledged continued support to the Council in appreciation of the honor bestowed on their beloved mother.

Hon. Ayo Ojo, her son and Technical Advisor to the Governor on Youth Inclusion, echoed the family’s sentiments, standing alongside his father, Engr. Chief Gabriel Ojo. He described the recognition as a “moral booster” that reinforces the enduring value of good deeds.”This honor reminds us that goodness follows those who do good. We are inspired to uphold her legacy of service and kindness,” he affirmed.

The event also featured moving tributes from dignitaries who knew the late Hon. Ojo intimately. Veteran broadcaster and political stalwart Chief Ronke Okusanya (Nana) captivated the audience with a heartfelt testimony. Holding up a cherished necklace gifted to her by the honoree, she declared, “This was more than a gift—it was a symbol of her boundless generosity. She was a woman who gave without hesitation, and this honor is truly deserved.”

In an exclusive interview with JIROLTV, Elder Niyi Ajibulu,General Secretary of the Council, shed light on the significance of the induction. He emphasized that the Hall of Fame serves not only as an honor but as a beacon of inspiration for future generations. “We celebrate individuals like Hon. Titilayo Ojo because their lives exemplify integrity and service. Their legacies encourage others to contribute meaningfully to society,” he stated. He also took a moment to commend Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his steadfast support of the state’s elders, praising him as”a true champion for the aged.”

The ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Dr. Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and human services who represented the Governor, alongside Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, President of the Council, and Chief Deji Fasuan, Vice President of the Ekiti Elders Forum, among other distinguished guests.
The late Hon. Titilayo Ojo JP now stands among an elite group of past inductees, including legendary figures such as Late Col. Adekunle Fajuyi, the courageous hero of Ekiti;Chief Deji Fasuan, a pivotal figure in the creation of Ekiti State; and legal luminaries Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) and Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN).
Her lifetime of service was nothing short of remarkable. She served as a Councilor and Special Adviser in Ikole Local Government from 1997 to 1998, later becoming Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in 2003. A founding member of the Ekiti APC Female Elders, she was also the “Eyekorede of Odo-Ayedun” and a devoted deaconess who held the position of Financial Secretary at the Reconciliation and Liberty Bible Church in Akure.
