GOV. OYEBANJI PLEDGES CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR PWDS IN EKITI

The Governor of Ekiti State,His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji has pledged the continued support of his administration for the promotion of access to learning for children with disabilities.

Oyebanji who was represented by the Head of Service Dr.Folakemi Olomojobi made the commitment during the sensitization rally of the 36th Annual National Conference of the Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) in Ado.

Speaking on the theme of the year 2025 conference ” Transformative solutions to inclusive education practices and accessibility for learners with special needs and Teachers in Nigeria” Oyebanji canvassed for the provision of platform for improved learning,saying teachers should up their games in implementing government policies,plans and programmes using strategic global standard.

He expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the noticeable progress that has been recorded so far which he attributed to the commitment of the teachers and the political will on the part of his administration.

In her remarks,the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Education,Princess Adetoun Agboola appreciated Mr Governor’s gesture,noting that people with disabilities are dear to him.

She added that it was a great honour for Ekiti being the host of this year’s national conference.

The National President of the Association Dr. Catherine Atteng lauded the giant strides of Ekiti State government at promoting inclusive education,and access to learning for children with disabilities, describing the Governor as disability -friendly governor .

Activities lined up for the week- long programme include sensitization rally, opening ceremony,plenary session,paper presentation, excursion, annual general meeting among others.
