EKtITI DEMOCRACY DAY:Adetunji Hails Oyebanji’s Leadership, Calls for Sustained Civic Vigilance

Technical Advisor for Local Government Project Monitoring and Evaluations, Engr. Olabode Adetunji, today issued a Democracy Day commendation to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (“BAO”) and the citizens of Ekiti State. Marking the national June 12 commemoration, Adetunji speaking with JIROLTV lauded the state’s tangible strides in embedding democratic principles and driving development through accountable governance.

Adetunji emphasized that Democracy Day transcends symbolism, spotlighting Ekiti’s concrete progress under Governor Oyebanji. “This day anchors us to the sacrifices made for our rights,” Adetunji stated, “but in Ekiti, we see daily proof – upgraded infrastructure, enhanced service delivery, and transparent local government project execution monitored for maximum impact. BAO’s leadership actively translates democratic ideals into measurable outcomes for every citizen.”

Directly addressing the theme “Unity in Diversity,” Adetunji declared Ekiti’s varied cultures and traditions are its strategic strength. “Our diversity isn’t just celebrated; it’s leveraged,” he asserted. “Inclusive governance under BAO ensures community needs are identified through direct engagement, driving projects that matter – from rural electrification and road networks to revitalized healthcare centers – strengthening collective ownership and progress.”

The Technical Advisor stressed that sustainable democracy demands active, informed citizenship beyond election cycles. “Robust democracy requires constant vigilance and participation,” Adetunji urged. “Ekiti citizens must persistently hold leaders accountable, engage in community development dialogues, and understand their rights and responsibilities. This ongoing partnership between an active populace and a responsive government is our blueprint for enduring advancement.”
