BAO Agenda 2026 Leaders Rally Behind Senator Adetunbi’s SWDC Nomination

.... As Senate Prepares to Screen Regional Development Commission Appointees

The BAO Agenda 2026 Group has thrown its full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Senator Olubunmi Adetunbi as Chairman of the South West Development Commission (SWDC),describing the selection as “a masterstroke for regional development.” The prominent political group, which champions Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s second term bid, issued the endorsement through its leadership cadre on Thursday in Ado Ekiti.

Hon. Moshood Lawal (Bamayi), the group’s State Coordinator, emphasized Senator Adetunbi’s qualifications during an exclusive interview with JIROLTV in Ado Ekiti. “Having closely followed Senator Adetunbi’s legislative career, we’re confident he possesses the perfect blend of experience and grassroots understanding needed to transform the South West region. His appointment comes at a crucial time when our people need focused leadership in infrastructure development and job creation,” Lawal stated.

The group’s Secretary-General, Hon. Olufemi Aduloju (Oja I), reinforced this position, noting that the nomination aligns perfectly with their development blueprint for the region. “What we’re seeing here is more than just a political appointment – it’s the convergence of vision and capability. We urge the Senate to recognize this exceptional pairing and expedite the confirmation process to allow the important work of the commission to commence without delay,” Aduloju explained.

Hon. Are Ebenezer Adebusuyi, serving as the group’s Treasurer, drew attention to Adetunbi’s financial acumen. “As Ekiti State’s Chief Economic Adviser, Senator Adetunbi has demonstrated remarkable fiscal discipline and innovative resource management. These are precisely the qualities needed to ensure the SWDC’s resources are judiciously deployed for maximum regional impact,” Adebusuyi affirmed.

The women’s perspective was articulated by Hon. Bukola Jegede, the group’s Women Leader. “We’ve had productive engagements with Senator Adetunbi regarding inclusive governance, and we’re assured that women and youth empowerment will be central to the commission’s agenda. His recognition of gender-balanced development as crucial for regional progress gives us great optimism,” Jegede noted.

Ms. Yewande Aribasoye, the PRO/Media head, addressed accountability mechanisms. “While we will maintain rigorous media oversight to ensure transparency, we’re fundamentally confident in Senator Adetunbi’s commitment to open governance. His track record suggests he welcomes rather than shuns public scrutiny,” Aribasoye remarked.

President Tinubu’s nominations for the regional commissions include 18 appointees for the SWDC under Senator Adetunbi’s chairmanship with Dr. Charles Akinola as Managing Director. Parallel appointments were made for the North Central and South South commissions under Cosmas Akiyir and Chibudom Nwuche respectively.

With Senate screening imminent, the BAO Agenda 2026 has pledged to mobilize grassroots support across the six South West states to ensure smooth confirmation. Political observers suggest the overwhelming endorsement from critical stakeholders significantly enhances the prospects for swift confirmation of all nominees.

The establishment of these development commissions marks a strategic intervention in regional development, with particular expectations riding on the SWDC to accelerate growth in Nigeria’s southwestern states under what many are calling “capable and visionary leadership.”
