
Ekiti State’s inaugural “Get Active Now Ekiti Youths (G.A.N.E.Y)” fitness programme, organised by the Office of the Technical Advisor on Youth Inclusion on Saturday, has drawn widespread acclaim from participants, including youths, government officials, and health enthusiasts.
The event, designed to promote physical wellness and mental resilience, emphasized the state’s commitment to inclusive governance under Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.

In separate interviews with JIROLTV, participants at the maiden edition shared their views.
Chief Mrs. Ronke Okunsanya (Nana), veteran broadcaster and party chieftain, who participated, said “This programme is a lifesaver. Even if we lack resources for luxury, fitness is free. A big shout out to the organisers and the government for thinking about our wellbeing.”

Mrs. Lola Olutola, Director General of the Ekiti Development and Investment Agency (EKDIPA), stressed that fitness should be a lifestyle.”This initiative is a welcome development, and I urge more people to join. Let’s keep this energy going!”
Mrs. Peju Ogunlai, Director General of the Ekiti State Road Funds, commented:
“This isn’t just for youths—it’s for everyone. The governor’s inclusive approach is uniting generations. I’m proud to be part of this movement.”
Dr. Abimbola Oni, Technical Advisor on Entrepreneurship Development, said “Healthy youths drive a thriving economy. This programme complements our efforts to empower young entrepreneurs. The governor’s inclusion policies are unmatched.”
Mr.Oyeyemi Adiola Senior Special Assistant on Civic Orientation, stated “No administration in Nigeria prioritises youth governance like Governor Oyebanji’s. We’re not just in government; we’re shaping policies. Hon. Ato Ojo’s fitness drive is another milestone.”
Mr. Cletus Malam, a Sports Enthusiast, noted “I’m a regular at the gym, but this initiative is different. It gets our youths engaged, instils discipline, and keeps them healthy. Prevention is better than cure—why rush to hospitals when we can stay fit? Kudos to Hon. Ato Ojo and the team for this vision!”
Mr.Olubodun Adewumi,Facility Manager of the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre, explained “From gyms to startup incubators, Ekiti is becoming a youth paradise. The government’s investment in wellness and innovation is revolutionary.”
Sandra, a Corps Member from Delta State, shared “I was dragged here, but now I’m grateful! I feel lighter, energised, and alive. Hon. Ato Ojo deserves applause—I’ll definitely return for the next session.”
Angela, a first-time exerciser, said “I rarely exercise, but today changed me. Burning calories feels great, and I’m already planning to make this a habit. This programme is a blessing.”
Pamela, exhausted but grateful, added:
“I’m tired, but in a good way! I hope this happens at least twice a month. Thank you to the organisers—God bless you!”

Finally,Hon. Ayo Ojo, Technical Advisor on Youth Inclusion and initiator of the event, emphasized the programme’s broader impact:”Ekiti is a hub of talent, and we must nurture it holistically. ‘Get Active Now’ isn’t just about exercise—it’s about mental clarity, productivity, and uniting our community. Governor Oyebanji’s youth-centric appointments prove his belief in our potential.”
The programme’s success highlights Ekiti’s broader strategy, including reducing preventable diseases through fitness,ensuring over 60% of political appointees are youths and bridging generational gaps through shared activities.
Plans are underway to expand the initiative with weekly sessions, mental health workshops, and statewide participation. “We’re just getting started,”Hon. Ayo Ojo affirmed.
