The Bet9ja Foundation has ignited a wave of excitement across Ekiti State with the launch of a groundbreaking Women’s U-20 Football Competition, set to kick off on March 17, 2025.
The competition, in which teams can register for free, aims to promote youth development by combining athletic excellence with comprehensive personal and professional growth.
“We are committed to using football as a tool to inspire and empower these young women, providing them with a platform to excel both on and off the field.” stated Mr. Bayo Olanlege, the foremost Bet9ja Agent in Ekiti State and CEO of Phoenix Athletics Sports Limited, the event’s consultant.
Under the visionary leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, we have reinforced our status as Nigeria’s most women-friendly state, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to gender equity.
“We are inspired by the unprecedented female representation in governance within the Ekiti state government. Just look around and see, especially the invaluable contributions of Dr. Olusola Osetoba, the Technical Advisor to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and Mrs. Peju Babafemi, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, championing women’s development.”
“This competition complements their ongoing initiatives, further strengthening the support system for empowering young women in Ekiti State. We’re creating role models who will inspire the next generation of Ekiti women.” Mr. Olanlege added.
Participants will have access to career workshops, mentorship sessions, and health education programs, including menstrual health resources.
Adding to the excitement are substantial cash prizes, with the first-place team receiving ₦250,000, second place ₦150,000, and third place ₦100,000, alongside trophies and medals.
Registration for the competition is completely free and is now open. Teams can sign up by contacting Wunmi at 08139401762. With the kickoff date fast approaching, organizers are urging teams to register promptly.
The Bet9ja Foundation is rallying local support, encouraging families, schools, and NGOs to spread the word.
