Recall that Aduloju, upon reviewing the college’s proposal during his inspection tour, immediately championed its case to top state officials. “This institution has shown remarkable potential, not just in health sciences but in contributing to Ekiti’s skilled workforce. Elevating its status will unlock new opportunities for students and attract broader investment,” he stated.

The upgrade is expected to pave the way for expanded infrastructure, additional courses, and improved funding. Students will soon access National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in fields such as public health, biomedical engineering, and health information management.

Located in Ijero Ekiti, the college has long been a hub for training healthcare professionals. Its new status as a polytechnic aligns with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s broader agenda to prioritize education and technical skills amid rising youth unemployment.

Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the news, with the college’s management calling it a “historic milestone ”

Aduloju emphasized the need for sustained momentum, urging staff and students to uphold standards. “This is just the beginning,we must ensure the institution becomes a model polytechnic,” he added.

The upgrade positions Ekiti as a growing contender in Nigeria’s tertiary education landscape, with a potential to reduce student migration to other states.
