CAC Olorunsogo DCC Honors Late Elder Akomolafe with Inaugural Youth Football Tournament

The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Olorunsogo DCC hosted a spirited two-day youth football competition on Friday, paying tribute to the late Elder Folorunsho Joshua Akomolafe, a revered figure in the church community.

Four districts from the DCC battled fiercely in the semi-finals on Friday, with CAC Olorunsogo District and CAC Oke Imuse District securing narrow 1-0 victories over CAC Chapel of Testimony and CAC Chapel of Glory Districts, respectively.

The final showdown on Saturday drew a vibrant crowd, including DCC Superintendent Pastor Adebisi T.O., district leaders, church elders, and family members of the late Elder Akomolafe. His children elevated the event by providing refreshments for players and attendees, blending remembrance with celebration.

In a tense final match, Olorunsogo and Oke Imuse Districts fought to a 1-1 stalemate after extra time. Organizers declared both teams winners, awarding gold medals in a rare joint triumph. The result emphasized the tournament’s emphasis on unity and sportsmanship.

Mr. Segun Adebayo, DCC Sports Coordinator, praised the overwhelming turnout and collaborative efforts of planning committees and districts. “This competition has shown the power of sports to unite our youth,” he said. “We hope this becomes a lasting legacy in Elder Akomolafe’s honor.”

The event concluded with calls to institutionalize the tournament, ensuring the late elder’s contributions to youth development are remembered for generations.
