Ekiti Unveils Bold Vision for Youth Empowerment , Inclusion

EThe Ekiti State Government, through the Office of the Technical Advisor for Youth Inclusion led by Mr. Ayo Ojo, launched a transformative initiative aimed at empowering young people across the state.

This ambitious program provided Ekiti youth with essential skills, resources, and opportunities to thrive, while strengthening inclusion, innovation, and sustainable development.

Speaking on the initiative with JIROLTV, Mr. Ojo explained that the program addressed critical challenges such as limited access to education, employment, and leadership opportunities. “This is about equipping our youth to unlock their full potential and actively contribute to Ekiti’s development,” he said.

Speaking on the achievements of the office since inception,he stressed that a core pillar of the initiative is ensuring equitable access to quality education and skill acquisition. Scholarships and grants were made available to support young people pursuing academic and professional growth. Additionally, mentorship programs were introduced to connect youth with seasoned professionals who provide guidance and inspiration.

“This is not just about academic progress; it’s about creating pathways for our youth to see themselves as capable of achieving greatness,” Mr. Ojo added.

The program also prioritized leadership development and civic participation. Youth are were trained to take active roles in decision-making processes, community initiatives, and advocacy campaigns.

Through it’s flagship program the “I’M IN” campaign, the Office of the Technical Advisor has strengthen a culture of inclusivity, ensuring young people from diverse backgrounds feel empowered to lead and make their voices heard.

According to Mr. Ojo, “We’re building a generation of leaders who embody resilience, integrity, and empathy—qualities that are essential for driving sustainable change.”

Strategic partnerships was also instrumental in achieving the program’s goals. Collaborations with organizations such as AgroXchange, Nike Art Gallery, and Omiye Microfinance Bank have provided young people with platforms to explore opportunities in sports, arts, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

Ekiti’s sports teams, including the state’s athletics and baseball squads, have also received support, highlighting the state’s commitment to nurturing talent. Cultural initiatives, such as the Adire Hub and partnerships with local artisans, have further boosted youth entrepreneurship and creativity.

Innovation is another major focus of the initiative. Programs in areas such as cybersecurity, biogas training, and entrepreneurship hubs are equipping young people with modern skills to drive economic growth and sustainability. “We’re positioning Ekiti as a hub for innovation and creativity by empowering problem-solvers to tackle today’s challenges,” Mr. Ojo said.

Looking ahead, the Ekiti State Government plans to expand its youth-focused initiatives in 2025. Proposed activities include town hall meetings, cultural festivals, skill acquisition programs, and financial empowerment schemes. The aim is to deepen youth engagement and further their contributions to the state’s development.

“With the support of our partners and the determination of our vibrant youth, the future looks bright,” Mr. Ojo concluded. “Together, we are building a more inclusive and prosperous Ekiti.”
