Hon. Awe emphasized that Governor Oyebanji is a leader who “does not just talk but backs his words with action.” The funds, earmarked for the first phase of the 2025 rural and community development initiative, will commence on Monday. The projects will be closely monitored by the ministry to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The commissioner warned that the ministry would not tolerate substandard work from vendors handling the rural and community projects. He assured that both vendors and community representatives would be held accountable to ensure that all projects meet the required standards.

The approved projects include perimeter fencing for health centers, provision of transformers , renovation of community town halls, construction of culverts and drainages, installation of solar-powered boreholes, and grading and opening of farmsteads. These initiatives aim to address critical infrastructure gaps in rural and community areas and improve the quality of life for residents.

THon. Awe also revealed that a second phase of the project, targeting 40 additional communities, will commence after the completion of the first phase. This phased approach, he said, is part of the governor’s broader vision to ensure that “every rural community in Ekiti State is touched by development.”

The commissioner highlighted that the first phase of repairs for non-functional boreholes has already been completed, with another phase set to begin soon. He urged benefiting communities to take ownership of the projects and ensure their sustainability.

Hon. Awe called on residents to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by actively participating in the projects and ensuring strict compliance with guidelines. “The governor has shown his commitment to rural and community development, and it is now up to the communities to protect and maintain these projects for the benefit of all,” he said.

Governor Oyebanji’s approval of the funds demonstrates his administration’s focus on inclusive development and improving the livelihoods of rural and community dwellers in Ekiti State.
