
Poised to ease the burden on families with multiple births, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has gifted cash and food items to 100 mothers of twins and triplets across the state. The event, held on Wednesday, was organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, who led the ceremony.

Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the governor’s wife, while addressing the gathering , assured the families of the government’s genuine concern for their well-being. She emphasized the importance of supporting families with multiple births, especially during these challenging economic times. Through her WAOH initiative, she has consistently provided cash and material support to children, widows, and vulnerable families across the state. She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support to improve their living conditions.

Earlier in her remarks, the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Christian Afuye, reiterated the governor’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Ekiti citizens. She encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of other government programs designed to uplift their lives. Chief Afuye praised Governor Oyebanji for his compassionate leadership and dedication to improving the lives of families in the state.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Olapeju Babafemi, also commended Governor Oyebanji for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women and families in Ekiti. She highlighted that the multiple birth support program, backed by law, reflects the government’s dedication to human capital development. Mrs. Babafemi urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to improve their living conditions.
Each of the 100 families received ₦100,000 and food supplies during the event.

One of the beneficiaries, retired Anglican cleric Venerable Ezekiah Akinroye, expressed deep gratitude for the support. The 70-year-old father of triplets described Governor Oyebanji as a compassionate leader who has shown care for families during tough times. He shared how the financial and material support meant a lot to him, especially after retiring and welcoming triplets in his old age.
Governor Oyebanji’s administration has also introduced free healthcare for pregnant women, children aged 0-5, and the elderly. Additionally, the government has renovated and equipped general hospitals and primary healthcare centers across the state, aligning with the governor’s vision of prosperity and wellness for all residents.
This initiative further stressed the Oyebanji-led administration’s commitment to supporting families and improving the quality of life for all Ekiti residents.
