NWFL Week 3: Ekiti Queens FC Set Eyes on Another Home Win After Encounter With Remo Ladies

Nigeria Women Premier League side, Ekiti Queens Football Club players have resumed training after their slim 1 nil away defeat to Remo Stars Ladies in Ikenne, Ogun State last Wednesday.

Despite the outcome of the week 2 encounter, the spirit in the camp of Ekiti Queens are high as they are determined to return to winning ways on match day 3 against Dannaz Ladies from Lagos.

The girls had a light training session on Saturday morning at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium preparatory to next Wednesday match.

Recall that Ekiti Queens began the 2024/25 NWFL with a home win over hard fighting Heartland Queens from Owerri on match Day 1 before bowing to a lone goal defeat against Remo Stars Ladies on match day 2.

Both teams displayed vigour and energy throughout the encounter as Remo Stars Ladies met a hard nut to crack in the defence of Ekiti Queens at the Remo Stadium in the first half.

Ekiti Queens dictated the play in the first half, showcasing superior ball possession that kept the host at bay at the Remo Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Inability of Ekiti Queens to convert scoring chances was painful as they also kept their host at bay through out the first half which ended goalless.

It was Remo Stars Ladies who struck the lone goal of the match day 2 six minutes into the second half after the host capitalized on a the failure of Ekiti Queens midfielder to clear the ball which sailed onto the path of the host and converted the opportunity.

As the season progresses, Ekiti Queens fans are to expect more excitement from the Jacob Vandi tutored team as they continue to aspire for an impressive finish at the end of the season.

In a post-match interview with newsmen, the Ekiti Queens’ Head Coach, Jacob Vandi, expressed appreciation to fans and supporters back home, over their positive and commendation comments on the team’s brilliant performance.

Coach Vandi also expressed gratitude to the sports-loving Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, as well as the Special Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba as well as other top club management and committed fans for their unwavering support while the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Premier Football League (NWFL) lasts.
