
In a decisive move, Professor Francis Adedayo Faduyile, OON (PDF), Chairman of the Committee of Chairmen Governing Councils of Federal Colleges of Education on Wednesday led a delegation to meet with Sen. Muktar Mohammed Dandutse, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND.

Prof. Faduyile emphasized the need for collaboration between the committee and the Senate to address challenges facing Federal Colleges of Education. He stressed the importance of increased funding, improved infrastructure, and enhanced welfare for personnel.
Specific Requests included restarting the COEASU-FGN 2010 agreement talks,e Addressing inadequate funding and poor maintenance, Removing tertiary institutions from IPPIS, Providing initial funding for new colleges,Releasing N300 billion for revitalization and Ensuring adequate funding for effective governance.
Sen. Dandutse assured the committee of the Senate’s commitment to supporting the development of Federal Colleges of Education, emphasizing the importance of teacher education in Nigeria’s growth.
The meeting marked a significant step forward, with the committee optimistic about receiving the necessary support to enhance the quality of teacher education in Nigeria.
