Deaconess Olufunke Adakeja, on Monday hosted the 2024 edition of her annual empowerment program in grand style . The event, organized through her outreach platform – the Victoria Crest Charity Outreach,held at the Victoria Crest Event Center along Afao Road, Ado Ekiti—a venue she owns.
With the motto “Victoria Crest…Impacting Lives,” the outreach brought joy and relief to widows, single mothers, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of society. Over 50 one-liter bottles of palm oil, along with staples such as rice, garri, and beans, were distributed. Beneficiaries also received financial assistance to help ease their burdens during the festive season.
This year’s empowerment program marked another milestone in Deaconess Adakeja’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. What began in 1998 as small donations to her church has today grown into an impactful annual tradition under the Victoria Crest Charity Outreach.
Since intensifying her efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, her dedication has touched countless lives across her community raising entrepreneurs and transitioning lives.
The event emphasized her focus on supporting women and young girls, with a particular emphasis on empowering widows and single mothers.
Deaconess Adakeja in an interview with jiroltv said her deep compassion stems from her belief in lifting society’s most vulnerable and ensuring they are not left behind all the time and especially during the festive period.
Her self-funded initiative, costing millions, has become a beacon of hope for many.
However,Beyond distributing essentials, Deaconess Adakeja called on government and community leaders to take more significant steps in addressing the needs of widows, single parents, and other underserved groups in society.
The beneficiaries expressing appreciation through their smiles and songs described her as a dogged philanthropist who sincerely cares through her selfless disposition to helping humanity.
Mrs Felix Dolapo,a physically challenged explained that she did not only get food staples but got a tangible amount to start her business which she confirmed would grately impact her life.This same gesture was also shared by an elderly woman Mrs.Grace Aduke Olatoyinbo said she receives five thousand monthly which greatly compliments her upkeep and savings described her as a rare breed who is so passionate about well-being of others and prayed her long life and abundant grace from God.
