Ekiti State Airport Approval: A Milestone in Economic Transformation- Bao Agenda 2026 Group

...As Governor Oyebanji’s Vision Gains Momentum

The BAO Agenda 2026 group has lauded the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for securing the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) approval to commence non-scheduled flight operations at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport (EAICA) in Ado Ekiti. Effective December 15th, the approval has been hailed as a significant step towards fulfilling the governor’s promise to drive economic prosperity in the state.

In a statement issued by the group’s state coordinator, Hon. Moshood Lawal (Bamayi), alongside Secretary-General Hon. Olufemi Aduloju OJA1 and Public Relations Officer Ms. Yewande Aribasoye, the team commended the governor’s unwavering commitment to continuity in governance. They also acknowledged former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi for laying the foundation for the project, emphasizing that the airport’s realization demonstrates the advantage of political and policy stability.

The group highlighted the airport’s transformative potential for the state’s economy. They noted that commercial activities around the Ijan Ekiti site are expected to thrive, with housing estates, hotels, and modern markets set to emerge. Artisans and local vendors would also benefit from increased economic activity, boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The airport’s operations will enhance the Ekiti Knowledge Zone (EKZ) by providing seamless access for international Information Technology (ICT) investors. Additionally, farmers will find ready markets for their produce, reducing post-harvest losses and increasing agricultural productivity.

To complement the airport project, the ongoing construction of the ring road and Oke-Iyimi flyover bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion. The group also emphasized the job creation potential, with local residents, artisans, and youths gaining employment opportunities as a result of the airport’s operations.

The BAO Agenda 2026 group concluded by stressing that continuity in governance remains essential for sustainable development. They called on residents to support Governor Oyebanji’s re-election in 2026, promising that his leadership would bring even greater progress and prosperity to Ekiti State.

“The approval of the cargo airport is proof that leadership built on vision and continuity yields results,” the group stated, urging citizens to rally behind the governor to secure a brighter future for the state.
