ADOLFRIC (Adolescent Friendly Research Initiative and Care)on Sunday during the week received a 17-year-old pregnant girl in crisis. She was brought in by her financially struggling mother after being turned away from a larger hospital due to the inability to pay the admission fee.
ADOLFRIC through its founder Prof.Babatunde olofinbiyi, expert OBSTETRICS GYNAECOLOGY AND ADOLESCENT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EKSU treated her for premature labor complicated by acute malaria at 36 weeks.

The girl’s father according to reports had abandoned her mother and three sisters eight years ago, likely because the mother could not bear a male child. Ironically, he now has more daughters with a different woman.

He noted that her case will be used to highlight the need for the Nigerian system to better support vulnerable adolescents.
ADOLFRIC called for action to provide comprehensive support for vulnerable adolescents and urged everyone to help ensure these young lives receive the care they deserve.
