EKITI STATE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM TACKLES ECONOMIC CHALLENGES

The National Youth Congress (NYC) Ekiti State Chapter hosted a vital event in Ado Ekiti tagged “Ekiti Youth Colloquium and Heroes Award 2024,”the second in the series, focused on addressing the pressing economic challenges facing Nigeria. The event featured a keynote address titled “Thriving in Chaos: Navigating Economic Uncertainty,” delivered by Director-General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship Ekiti State,Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa.

Bringing together young leaders, entrepreneurs, and key stakeholders, the colloquium aimed to foster discussions on effective strategies for overcoming current economic difficulties. In her presentation, Mrs. Famuyiwa stressed the importance of resilience and adaptability in navigating today’s complex economic landscape.

She noted, “In times of uncertainty, it is crucial for our youth to harness their creativity and innovation to not only survive but thrive,” encouraging attendees to view change as an opportunity for growth.

Mrs. Famuyiwa also commended Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his commitment to youth empowerment, calling him a youth-friendly leader. She outlined several key strategies for empowering young people, including: Skills Development, Entrepreneurship and
Proactive Engagement with Government Initiatives.

Aree Temitope Adedara, Chairman of the NYC Ekiti State Chapter, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Ekiti State Government. He remarked, “This program is a testament to the administration’s dedication to creating a favorable environment for our youth to excel,” and encouraged participants to take full advantage of available resources.

After the presentation, participants including panelists engaged in vibrant discussions, sharing personal experiences and strategies for overcoming economic hurdles. Many expressed optimism about the future, crediting the event for its valuable insights and networking opportunities. One attendee remarked, “It’s encouraging to see so many young people committed to making a change,” highlighting the collective determination of the youth.

As the program wrapped up, organizers emphasized the need for on-going dialogue and collaboration among youths in Ekiti State. The NYC announced plans for additional workshops and seminars aimed at equipping young people with the tools necessary to navigate economic uncertainties and contribute positively to their communities.

 

With initiatives like these, the future of Ekiti youths looks bright as they prepare to turn challenges into opportunities for success.
