Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Olapeju Babafemi, has reiterated the state’s dedication to investing in the education and future of its children. Speaking at a support programme for school children in Efon-Alaaye, she emphasized that the Oyebanji administration places the education and wellbeing of children at the forefront of its agenda.
Highlighting Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s unwavering commitment, Mrs. Babafemi described children as the nation’s future leaders and emphasized the administration’s unparalleled efforts toward their holistic development.
The Commissioner noted that her initiative aligns with the government’s human capital development agenda and complements the Widows, Aged, Orphans, and Hope Initiative (WAOH) as well as the Ekiti State First Lady’s Annual Back-to-School Programme.
These programmes have significantly supported vulnerable groups and advanced the education of countless pupils and students across the state.
Mrs. Babafemi expressed optimism that the empowerment initiative would have a lasting impact on Efon-Alaaye, a community known for its strong emphasis on education and history of producing distinguished professionals. “We owe it a duty to motivate and inspire the younger ones, preparing them for a great future,” she said.
At the event, she distributed 100 school bags to children and food items to women, urging the beneficiaries to make the most of the state government’s investment in their growth.
In his remarks, the Alaaye of Efon, HRM Oba (Dr) Adesanya Aladejare, represented by Olori Roseline Adesanya Aladejare, commended Governor Oyebanji’s dedication to the people of Efon and assured the community’s continued support for his administration.
Chief Mrs. Aderonke Okusanya and the Elejofi of Aaye Quarters, Chief Bode Olayinka, also lauded Mrs. Babafemi’s outreach, describing her as a blessing to the community.
Former Efon Local Government Chairmen, Chief Joel Omoniyi and Hon. Stephen Adetunji, expressed their gratitude for the initiative, while Mrs. Tejumade Abodunde, Headmistress of CAC Teachers College Demonstration School, appreciated the Commissioner and Governor Oyebanji for their leadership and generosity.
The event concluded with cheers as schoolchildren and women received their gifts, reflecting the administration’s unwavering passion for uplifting Ekiti’s communities and securing a brighter future for the next generation.
