The Ekiti Electricity Distribution Company Limited (EEDCL), a subsidiary of IBEDC in Ekiti, has become the first to unveil its organizational structure and principal officers among the recently unbundled electricity companies [BEDC (Benin) and IBEDC(Ibadan)].
This announcement emphasizes Ekiti’s proactive stance in ensuring efficient electricity distribution across the state.
The newly announced structure includes the following officers:
Emeka Ngwoke: Manager.
Adebayode Alaketu: Head Technical
Obayemi Bukola: Head Commercial
Yusuf Akintola: Head Legal/Regulatory
Florence Adeloye: Head HR & Admin
with official address as: No. 17, Iberikodo Area, Along Palace Road, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, Nigeria.
These appointments are expected to facilitate seamless operations as EEDCL takes charge of electricity distribution within Ekiti State, ensuring localized oversight and improved service delivery.
This development aligns with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (NERC) directive under the Electricity Act 2023, which transferred regulatory responsibilities to newly established state electricity commissions. Ekiti State, through its Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Board (EKSERB), continues to lead among states by prioritizing localized regulation and effective management.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration has been widely commended for its vision to ensure reliable electricity for residents. According to the Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, the EEDCL’s leadership structure marks a critical step toward achieving this goal. He expects all recently licensed energy service providers to follow suit.
Prof. Aluko maintained that the Governor Biodun Oyebanji is committed to making electricity available, and looks forward to seamless collaboration between EKSERB and EEDCL to meet residents’ needs.
In another recent development, as part of this transition, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is closing its Forum Offices in six states, including Ekiti. The Ekiti Forum Office officially closed on October 22, 2024, transferring full regulatory responsibilities to EKSERB.
This move signifies a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s power sector, as Ekiti leads in implementing the new regulatory framework aimed at delivering efficient and reliable electricity services to its residents.
