The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security,Engr. Olugbenga Odesanmi has stressed the importance of proper monitoring and evaluation in ensuring the success of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project in the State
Engr Odesanmi made the assertion in Ado-Ekiti during a one -day workshop tagged “Capacity Enhancement for Project Implementation Unit Members and Some Staff in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security on Monitoring and Evaluation Requirements.”
Odesanmi said that the project is designed to improve and bridge the gap of performance and sustainability of livestock Production, value chain development using technological interventions,productive infrastructures, effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation to ensure food security and safety in the State.
He stressed that the project monitoring and evaluation unit is responsible for monitoring and reporting at the project level adding that the results framework will serve as a main tool for assessing the effectiveness of the Project during Implementation and measuring of final outcomes after the project completion.
In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, L-PRES Mr. Olayinka Adedipe charged the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Members and other participants to learn, re-learn and unlearn the fundamentals indices of monitoring and evaluation in terms of reporting the activities on project completion.
Adedipe who highlighted the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on monitoring and evaluation reporting, noted that gathering data on inputs,outputs, and outcomes, providing timely feedback for adjustments, informing decision- making for future Project and tracking report progress.
Earlier,the National Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist,Mr. Aliyu Ahmed dissected the fundamental indices of Monitoring and Evaluation, L-PRES Key Performance Indicators, Project Development Objectives(PDOs) and Intermediary results, Activity database, Relevance and Use, Report and Reporting requirements,Work plan and Budget,Routine Monitoring among others in the training.
Two of the participants who spoke at the training including the Gender Based Violence Officer L-PRES, Mrs. Busola Adeniyi and the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security,Mr. Joshua Adeleye promised to properly utilize the knowledge acquired during the training.
