The BAO Agenda 2026 group has fired back at self-acclaimed PDP chieftain Peter Obafemi, dismissing his accusation that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji deliberately delayed the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage. The group labeled the claim “untrue and baseless,” urging the public to ignore Obafemi’s assertions.
In a firm rebuttal issued by State Coordinator Hon. Moshood Lawal and co-signed by General Secretary Hon. Oluwafemi Aduloju and Public Relations Officer Yewande Aribasoye, the group described Obafemi as a “confused political jester” who, despite repeatedly contesting the governorship, “fails woefully” in every election. They advised him to focus on “finding solutions to his failed businesses and focus on his health challenges” rather than “poking his nose into the affairs of the state.”
The group stated further how someone who had abandoned his so-called “motherland” without any single article since 10 years ago come out now to discuss state issues which he is obviously alien to if not that he is gearing up for his usual dead-on -arrival gubernatorial exercise he does every four years.
Addressing the wage issue, the BAO Agenda 2026 group explained that Governor Oyebanji is already working on the implementation, which is constitutionally required across all states. The governor had set up a committee—including cabinet members, the head of service, and labor unions—to determine the best approach to fulfill this mandate. Oyebanji had also expressed his desire to expanding the increase to local government workers.
The group commended Oyebanji’s dedication to transparency, highlighting his N15,000 palliative for all civil servants and free bus shuttles for state employees and students as clear examples of his commitment to Ekiti residents’ welfare. Assuring civil servants and residents of the governor’s promise of prosperity for all, the BAO Agenda 2026 group urged them not to be swayed by “a confused and rattling political jester like Mr. Peter Obafemi, who knows nothing about governance” and only seeks to disrupt the healthy relationship between the people and their government.
Since taking office, Governor Oyebanji has prioritized civil servants’ welfare, introducing timely salary payments, establishing a robust pension reform for retirees, and implementing various housing initiatives aimed at making life easier for government employees. His administration’s focus on workers’ well-being emphasizes his commitment to a prosperous Ekiti State.
