Hope Springs Anew: First Lady’s Food Outreach Brings Relief to Ekiti’s Vulnerable

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, launched the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Food Outreach in Ekiti on Thursday, marking a significant commitment to Nigeria’s vulnerable communities.

Through RHI, food items were distributed to people with disabilities, widows, special schools, and other marginalized groups in the state. Represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Mrs. Tinubu reaffirmed her mission to uplift the welfare of women, children, and elderly Nigerians.

In her address at the Government House grounds, Senator Tinubu emphasized that the RHI initiative is driven by the need to combat hunger and poverty across Nigeria. “This outreach is not only about distributing food; it is about our dedication to improving the lives of those most affected by economic hardship,” she noted. Food staples including rice, beans, garri, and spaghetti were distributed to thousands of families in Ekiti, with plans to extend the initiative nationwide.

The First Lady highlighted that RHI’s work aligns with the administration’s broader goals of supporting underserved populations. She added, “A healthy family is the foundation of a thriving society,” emphasizing that the initiative’s core pillars include health, education, agriculture, and social investment.

PRESENTATIONS DURING THE PROGRAM

In her welcome address, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, Wife of the Ekiti State Governor and RHI State Coordinator, expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s gesture, describing it as a “beacon of hope” for vulnerable Nigerians. She praised Mrs. Tinubu’s dedication to transforming lives and providing real solutions to local challenges.

Among the beneficiaries, Mr. Biodun Agboola expressed heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Tinubu, stating that the initiative would ease the burden on Ekiti’s most vulnerable. He also commended Governor Oyebanji’s administration for programs that have significantly uplifted the standard of living for persons with disabilities in Ekiti. The event saw an enthusiastic welcome, with traditional performances reflecting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
